There are many important factors that contribute to the decision on what type of hot water system would best suit your needs, factors such as Budget, The properties demand, Exsisting set up. In this blog we will help naviagate your to make the best choice for your heat pump installation in perth

Introduction —

Heat pumps operate using electricity to generate hot water, whats special about heat pumps is how effecient they are compared to your conventional electric and gas hot water systems. Typically heat pumps can be four times as effiecient as those systems and paired with a PV solar panel system can be free to run.

  1. Budget

There are many things that contribute to the cost of installing a heat pump, primarily the cost of the heat pump system itself, with so many heat pumps now on the market at varying price points it can be hard to single out what may be best for yourself.

$ - Entry level heat pumps such as the Enviroheat or the I-store can be a great starting place when looking at installing a heat pump. With both systems being able to be installed with a power supply from a general power outlet this can potentially cut the cost of installation, particiularly where the existing system already makes use of one.

$$ - Mid level heat pumps such as the Rinnai B and E series are a great option if you are looking for a heat pump backed by a big name in the Australian hot water market, another option like the Rheem Ambiheat is also a great choice. The Pricing reflecting the reuptable name of the manufacturer as well as in the case of the Rinnai B and E series inbuilt WIFI capability to enable the user to have complete control over the operation of the heat pump for better efficiency. These systems need to be ran on their own dedicated electrical circuit.

$$$ - Hi-end heat pumps such as Reclaim and Sanden are seen as market leaders when in comes to quality for heat pumps. Both systems use a storage cylinder and seperate heat pump unit similar to a small air conditioner typically offering a wider range of system sizes and longer warranties. The way that these systems produce hot water through a heat exchanger means that they offer quicker hot water recovery times with 50L of hot water availble to use after just half an hour of operating. Also offering the ability to add a WIFI controll module to the system for even better control over the operation. These systems need to be ran on a dedicated circuit.

2. Usage/Demand.

A decision of which heat pump to choose may come down to how much hot water is going to be needed during a set period of time.

Smaller systems like the Enviroheat 200L and the Istore 180L can be an ideal system for lower usage properties typically being enough hot water for up to 4 people.

Medium systems like the Enviroheat 250L and the Istore 270L offer slightly larger storage amount being capable of supplying up to 6 people with hot water.

Larger systems like the Reclaim 315L and 400L as well as the Sanden system 315L can supply much larger house holds, along with their larger stored amounts the quicker regeneration time of hot water means you have to wait less to get more. Another option is the Enviroheat 330L system.

  1. Location/Space.

Units like the Rinnais, I-stores and Enviroheats are known as all in one heat pumps take up much less space than split heat pumps needing a footprint of around 800mmx800mm for the system, associated valves and access for servicings. Where as the Reclaim and Sandens with their split system take up slightly more space, although the heat pump can be located up to 15M pipe run away from the storage cylinder. The Reclaim system does have the ability to be roof mounted.

Overview.

Enviroheat 200L, 250L, 330L & I-store 180L & 270L - Budget friendly entry level all in one heat pump.

Rinnai B and E series - Well backed global hot water brand with WIFI enabled systems.
